FLUTE at ASU

The Angelo State University Flute Studio

provides a positive and supportive environment for flutists to learn about and play the flute, whether or not music is your major field of study. Applied lessons in flute are available to all students; non-music majors are accepted on a first-come basis. The Applied Lesson is a weekly one-on-one session that ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration, depending on the students' degree plan. Flute Studio Class is an additional weekly group session open to all students enrolled in Applied Flute and is when flutists gather together to discuss the flute and flute playing, sight read music together, practice performing, or engage in some other flute related activity.

In addition to applied lessons, ASU also offers Flute Choir as a class in both the fall and spring semesters! This is a non-auditioned ensemble, open to all students who have at least a high school level experience playing flute. This ensemble performs a minimum of one concert each semester and community service engagements as possible.

Dr. Kelley's flute studio has been represented in the annual ASU Concerto Competition every year and her students are frequently among the winners. For more information or guidance about becoming an ASU flute major or which flute class is appropriate for you, contact Dr. Kelley!
